dysphagia care management clinicians celebrating the new year together

As the year draws to a close, the Patheous Health team is taking a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come—and consider where we’re headed next. Thankfully, 2025 was a year of innovation, growth, and connection for Patheous Health. From expanding mobile imaging services to launching educational resources like Pathway360 and Extended Care Essentials, we continued our mission to redefine dysphagia management across numerous care settings.

Success: A Collective Effort

Our success was driven by the clinicians, partners, and leaders who embody our shared values every day. Whether performing an instrumental study, coordinating outcomes reports, or educating facility teams and patients’ families, each Patheous Health team member has contributed tremendously to our collective goal: improving patient safety and quality of life.

We’re grateful for the Skilled Nursing Facilities and other partner sites that regularly welcome us onsite to support patient care. These collaborations allow us to screen for dysphagia, make accurate diagnoses, and work collaboratively with patients’ care teams to enhance patients’ health outcomes—and their quality of life. Since Patheous Health uniquely provides onsite screening, diagnoses, and recommendations, we help care facilities avoid costly, inconvenient transfers to hospitals for these services. Our onsite screenings—combined with proper treatments and care—help prevent serious complications like aspiration pneumonia, malnutrition, and dehydration. And our ongoing collaborations help ensure safer outcomes and stronger continuity of care for patients with dysphagia and other swallowing challenges.

It’s important to note how thankful we are for our new leadership team—and the smart, experienced, compassionate professionals at the helm of our organization. Our new CEO and COO each bring valuable healthcare and business capabilities to their roles, and have an exciting, strategic vision for the organization’s future. These skilled leaders will help drive Patheous Health’s mission, expanding access to accurate diagnostics, better treatments, and improved patient outcomes nationwide.

Providing Valuable Dysphagia Resources

Notably in 2025, Patheous Health launched our new Pathway 360™—a toolkit of dysphagia resources—to promote sustainable growth for Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and other care facilities. A standardized model like Pathway 360 turns every clinical team into a growth engine by identifying eligible patients earlier and ensuring timely access to dysphagia imaging. It aligns therapy, nursing, and dietary in a shared protocol—dramatically reducing missed opportunities, unbilled services, and murky, non-compliant documentation. Pathway 360 empowers SLPs and SNF care teams to know when—and how—to test and treat patients with swallowing difficulties, boosting imaging opportunities and associated revenue.

This past year, we also introduced our new Clinical Clips— quick, evidence‑based insights designed to support better dysphagia care. Each quarter, we’re sharing practical takeaways for SLPs and administrators that you can put into practice right away. Our first spotlight focused on The Benefits of the Repeat Study. Contrary to its name, a “repeat” study isn’t about duplicating work—it’s about conducting multiple instrumental exams for the same patient as they transition across care levels. Research shows repeat studies improve quality outcomes, reduce risk, and ensure patients receive the right care at the right time. Patheous Health experts have continued to lead numerous professional development opportunities, spotlighting the most advanced, innovative trends, tools, and technologies used to screen, diagnose, and treat patients with dysphagia. Recent topics have included how medical conditions impact swallowing function, the importance of Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT), and more. Watch for more timely, compelling educational opportunities coming in the new year!

Here’s to A Strong Future

Looking ahead to 2026, we remain focused on advancing access to objective swallowing assessment, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, and elevating education across the continuum of care. We’ll continue investing in technology, training, and partnerships that bring evidence-based dysphagia management directly to the bedside. And, of course, we’ll invest heavily in recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent so we can continue providing extraordinary care to the patients and partners we serve.

“Our commitment is not just to excellence—it’s to impact,” says Rick Denning, CEO of Patheous Health. “Every study, every partnership, every innovation moves us closer to a world where no patient’s swallowing disorder goes undiagnosed or unsupported.”

As we welcome the new year, we do so with gratitude for those who make our mission possible—and with a stronger voice than ever in advocating safe, compassionate dysphagia care.

Here’s to a 2026 filled with growth, gratitude, and continued innovation.
